Principal Investigator: Prof. Sung You Hong

Biography: Sung You Hong graduated from Seoul National University in 2002 (BSc, summa cum laude). From 2002‐2003, he worked with Prof. Reshef Tenne at Weizmann Institute of Science as an invited visiting student investigating the structures of metal sulfides (M = Mo, W, and Sn). After finishing a military duty, SYH moved to the University of Oxford to carry out graduate studies (DPhil, Organic Chemistry, 2005‐2009) as a Samsung Lee Kun Hee Scholar under the guidance of Prof. Benjamin G. Davis (co-advisor: Prof. Malcolm L. H. Green) to conduct a synthetic glyco-conjugate project. Following this, he joined in the Seeberger Group (Max Planck Institute) as a postdoctoral researcher working on carbohydrate chemistry and TM-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. SYH began an independent research in late 2010 at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). The group research is focused on the design and synthesis of biologically-active small molecules and redox-active conjugated compounds.
